The Last Candle for
the Last Hostage in Gaza
The return of 251 hostages taken by Hamas brought sparks of light into a world shrouded in darkness since October 7, 2023.
Yet one shadow remains: Sergeant Ran Gvili, whose body was abducted into Gaza, is the last remaining hostage.
And like Jacob, who was given the blood soaked coat of Joseph by his brothers and did not mourn the loss of his son because he did not have a body, the Gvilis are still clinging on to the minute chance that Rani will return alive.
On the last night of Chanukah, we invite you to join Ran’s younger sister, Shira Gvili, who will speak about her brother, a Jewish defender in the spirit of the Maccabees, and the fight to bring him home. #UntilTheLastHostage.
We will then light the eighth Chanukah candle in honor of this courageous young man and together fulfill the tradition of באנו חושך לגרש, driving away the darkness.
