What Happens Next?

A Survey of Jewish Eschatology

The concept of the afterlife looms large in many religious traditions. What does Judaism actually have to say about what happens next, whether personally, in terms of immorality, or more generally in history, in terms of messianism? In this course, we will look at a selection of medieval and modern ideas about issues ranging from the supernatural to the natural, including the views of thinkers such as Maimonides, Nahmanides, and Spinoza.
