TOVAH

An Icon of Stage, Screen and Jewish Culture

screening and discussion with

Tovah Feldshuh and David Serero
moderated by Jessica Shaw

For five decades, we’ve watched Tovah Feldshuh transform herself again and again, captivating a new generation of fans as she goes from a tap dancing Rosie Brice in Funny Girl, to a  trapeze swinging Berte in Pippin, to the hypercritical mother, Naomi Bunch, on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and to “Hot Rabbi” Adam Brody’s Russian mother, Bina, in the hit series Nobody Wants This – to name a few.

She has dazzled audiences as Prime Minister Golda Meir, Dolly Levi in Hello Dolly and Mama Rose in Gypsy. She even embodied former politician Deanna Monroe on The Walking Dead, a performance she famously based on Hillary Clinton.

Now, audiences are invited to look back at Feldshuh’s extraordinary life and career in the new documentary TOVAH, directed by David Serero. Featuring rare archival footage, intimate behind-the-scenes access, and exclusive interviews with a star-studded lineup – the film features Dustin Hoffman, Oscar Isaac, Kristen Bell, Adam Brody, Erin Foster, Patti LuPone, Stephen Schwartz, Peter Gallagher, Rachel Bloom, Julie Benko, Jared Grimes, Daryl Roth, Chris Silbermann, Michael Adler, Daniel Roher, Élie Chouraqui, Katie Couric, Joy Behar, Sharon Bialy, Julie Platt, among others – making it one of the most expansive and prestigious assemblies of industry voices ever brought together to honor a Broadway artist. The film paints a vivid portrait of a true icon not only of stage and screen, but also in the world of philanthropy.

Following the screening, join Tovah and filmmaker David Serero for a live conversation and audience Q&A, moderated by Jessica Shaw, exploring what it takes to become an icon, and the singular place Tovah Feldshuh occupies in Jewish culture.
