The Race to Represent Manhattan
NY-12 Candidate Forum
On June 23, 2026, Democrats in New York’s 12th Congressional District will have an opportunity to select their nominee to replace Jewish Congressman, Jerrold Nadler, who is retiring after 34 years on Capitol Hill. Given that the district – which stretches the width of Manhattan, and from Union Square to the top of Central Park – has historically been solidly blue, the winner of the Democratic primary is likely to triumph in the November election. Join us in the final weeks of the primary to hear about the issues Jewish voters care most about from three of the leading candidates for this coveted seat:
Alex Bores represents the 73rd District in the New York State Assembly, where he has passed [32] bills and delivered over $50 million in funding for his community. Alex is the first Democrat in Albany with a master’s degree in computer science, has been recognized by the Center for Effective Lawmaking as the most effective new legislator from NYC, and authored and passed the RAISE Act — the nation’s toughest AI safety law.
Jack Schlossberg is a leading voice for his generation of progressives, using social media to expand voter outreach efforts. He previously served on the Biden presidential campaign, rallying millions of young voters. During his time on the campaign, Jack traveled to nearly every swing state, engaging voters to support Democrats. Jack earned both a JD from Harvard Law School and an MBA from Harvard Business School after working on ocean policy at the US Department of State.
Micah Lasher represents the 69th District in the New York State Assembly. Here, Micah has produced legislation focusing on housing discrimination, consumer protection, and renewable energy. Micah has also emerged as an opposition voice to the Trump Administration, leading efforts to support redistricting efforts in response to Texas’ actions. He previously served as Policy Director for Governor Hochul, leading efforts on housing, infrastructure, and mental health policy.
The conversation will be moderated by Halie Soifer, Chief Executive Officer, Jewish Democratic Council of America.
