Liz Hirsh Naftali on

Saving Abigail

On October 7, 2023, three-year-old Abigail Mor Edan watched her parents murdered in front of her before she was abducted by Hamas terrorists from her home in Kfar Aza. Covered in her father’s blood, she ran to neighbors for safety – only to be taken hostage into Gaza.

That same day, Abigail’s great-aunt, Liz Hirsh Naftali, was in Israel visiting her daughter. Within hours, her life changed forever.

Liz became a relentless advocate for Abigail and for all hostages, meeting face-to-face with world leaders including Presidents Biden and Trump, Secretary of State Blinken, and Qatari and Israeli prime ministers. She carried one mission across borders and continents: Abigail and all hostages must come home.

After 51 agonizing days in captivity, Abigail was released on November 26, 2023. But Liz did not stop. She continued fighting for those still held hostage and speaking for families whose voices have been silenced.

In her powerful book, Saving Abigail, Liz shares the extraordinary true story of terror, survival, resilience, and hope – while calling for peace, humanity, and security for all people in the region.

Liz also hosts The Capitol Coffee Connection Podcast, where she sits down with diverse elected and non-elected leaders for intimate, candid conversations centered on leadership, values, and lived experience. The podcast intentionally steers away from politics and policy, focusing instead on home, heart, humanity, and celebrates what connects us and not what divides us.
