This course will help you feel more connected during Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services. Beginning with basic Hebrew reading skills, we will then explore key prayers from the High Holiday liturgy, learning their meaning, pronunciation, and significance. Students will receive a curated vocabulary list of essential Hebrew words and phrases from these prayers, enabling you to follow along more easily in the machzor (holiday prayer book) and deepen your spiritual experience. No prior experience with Hebrew is necessary.
Jerusalem native Michal Nachmany is a former faculty member at Hebrew Union College and teaches Hebrew across New York, both in classes and in private lessons.
