Modern Conversational Hebrew for Advanced Beginners
(Summer 2026)
This class, designed for students who can already read Hebrew, will build practical communication skills for everyday situations. You will learn common vocabulary, useful phrases, and essential grammar for greetings, introductions, asking questions, and expressing basic needs. Through interactive activities and role-playing, you will gain confidence in speaking and understanding, sharpen your pronunciation, and deepen your familiarity with Israeli culture.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to introduce themselves, ask and answer basic questions, and hold a simple conversation in Hebrew. Along the way, we will also enjoy learning and singing a few popular Hebrew songs.
Students will use the book Ivrit Alfon: A Hebrew Primer for Adults (Hebrew Edition), available on Walmart.com – see link HERE. Additional materials will be provided by the instructor. Basic Hebrew knowledge required.
- July 9 – Continue in Hebrew Alfon unit 6. Expanding on verbs and nouns. Practical Hebrew – at the restaurant. Reading, talking, and writing is practiced.
- July 16 – Review. Finish unit 6, start Unit 7 – Reading more complex stories. Practical Hebrew – at the supermarket.
- July 23 – Finish unit 7. Review of word groups such the family, home, time, verbs, and useful words.
- July 30 – Review. Practical Hebrew – at the beach, at the park, and words of summer. Continued reading and conversation practice.
