Beginner Yiddish Through Role Play: Online Shopping

One of the most effective ways to build fluency and confidence in a new language if through role-playing in a supportive environment. In this fun, beginner-friendly six-week class, then, we’ll turn the world of online shopping into a Yiddish adventure by practicing buying items, asking questions, making returns and solving delivery problems.
Together we’ll learn how to browse and buy items online, ask about sizes and prices, deal with shipping delays and complain politely, and not so politely all in conversational Yiddish. And when things really go wrong, you’ll learn classic Yiddish-style complaints or curses — for example: “You should grow like an onion, with your head in the ground and your feet in the air!”
Expect lots of laughter, creativity, and practical language. No previous knowledge of Yiddish required — just curiosity and a sense of humor.

Thursdays, 6:30 – 8:00 PM

April 16, 23, 30, May 7, 14, 21

$220, $150 Temple Emanu-El members

Free for Friends of Streicker
