An Evening with

George Will

George Will has been opining about American politics and the state of the nation since Richard Nixon occupied the Oval Office. Nine presidents later, he continues lashing out at the erosion of our values and our institutions from his perch as a columnist at The Washington Post with the same signature wit, intelligence and forthrightness.

In recent years, his view of our future has turned dimmer as he’s railed against how expertise, reason and manners are under continual attack in our institutions, courts, politics and society. In his new book, American Happiness and Discontents: The Unruly Torrent, 2008–2020, Will has compiled a collection of his columns from the past 13 years about everything from American socialists and anti-capitalist conservatives to the Supreme Court, drug policy, climatology, the coronavirus, the meritocracy, China, fascism, Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan and the morality of enjoying football.

The Temple Emanu-El Streicker Center proudly hosts this Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist and intellectual for a wide-ranging discussion on where America has gone wrong and where it might be headed.

George Will has been a leading journalist for almost half a century. He is currently a Pulitzer Prize–winning columnist for The Washington Post and provides commentary for NBC News and MSNBC. He is the author of six previous books.
