Jarrett Ross

Introduction to Jewish Genealogy

The prospect of uncovering your family history can feel overwhelming, especially in the world of Jewish genealogy. But with today’s technology, it is less complicated than ever. In this course, we will explore the basics of genealogy, the unique challenges in Jewish research and how to overcome them with modern tools and resources.

Students will learn the migration paths of Jewish communities to and within America, and how to discover their own families’ stories both in America and in ancestral towns overseas. We’ll cover how to navigate Holocaust records and use DNA to expand Jewish family trees. By the end of this course, students will have the knowledge, tools and confidence to move forward in their own research.
