Hebrew for Beginners
(March 2026)
A continuation of our beginner’s class, this course will deepen your ability to decode the alphabet and strengthen your reading skills. We will continue practicing writing the letters of the alphabet and begin developing listening comprehension.
After a review of the alphabet lessons we have mastered, we will start studying vowels, learning how to divide words correctly into syllables to facilitate reading fluency and work with longer words and less common endings to increase reading ability and confidence.
By the end of the course, students will be able to decode and read portions of the Siddur independently and feel more at ease during the Shabbat service.
We will use Teach Yourself to Read Hebrew as our textbook, available on Amazon HERE. The accompanying flash cards, also available on Amazon HERE, are recommended. Additional course materials will be supplied by the instructor.
