The Thursday Authors

Six Women Writers, 27 Novels,
47 Years of Bringing Strong Women to Life

In early 2020, while navigating their way through the pandemic, six prominent women novelists, bonded by their craft, created a private Zoom support group. Over time, it morphed into a wider community, complete with online discussions, author interviews and live events.

They are making a stop at The Temple Emanu-El Streicker Cultural Center to discuss how the encouragement of other female authors helps them navigate challenging careers and the delights of centering strong women in their own work.

The Thursday Authors joining us:

Jamie Brenner turned her teenage obsession with Jackie Collins towards writing beach books, and has now published seven, including the national bestseller The Forever Summer.

Fiona Davis, is the author of best-selling novels are built around iconic NYC buildings and framed around forgotten women of accomplishment, including her latest book, The Spectacular.

Nicola Harrison, a former fashion journalist, is the author of three novels of historical fiction, including her new take on a Rosie the Riveter story in Hotel Laguna.

Lynda Cohen Loigman grew up in thrall of the storytelling of her mother and aunts about 1950s Brooklyn, which inspired her best-selling novels, including The Matchmaker’s Gift.

Amy Poeppel writes stories that celebrate the messiness of modern family life. The Washington Post called her latest novel, The Sweet Spot, “smart, sparkling, and very, very funny.”

Susie Orman Schnall writes contemporary and historical fiction about ambitious women. She is the author of four novels, including We Came Here to Shine, set at the 1939 NY World’s Fair.
