A Skirball Academy Class
Naomi Miller
A Bisl Yiddish
(Fall 2023)
Pick up the basics of conversational Yiddish by taking a unique simulated trip to the old Catskills’ hotels and bungalow colonies. You’ll make your own reservations, check in and then . . . eat, eat, eat, kvetch, talk about last night’s Mel Brooks performance — and the upcoming comedy show of Henny Youngman — before eating some more. Then you’ll plan your daytime activities from “Simon Says” to dance lessons . . . all in Yiddish. No prior knowledge required.
Tuesdays, 6:30 – 8:00 PM
October 17, 24, 31, November 7, 14, 21
$180, $120 Temple Emanu-El members
Free for Friends of Streicker

Born in a displaced person’s camp in Landsberg, Germany, Naomi Miller is a retired speech pathologist with a specialty in developing language skills, she is also an actress who performed with the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene. She has taught Yiddish for the United Federation of Teachers, Rutgers University Continuing Education, the JCC of Middlesex County, the Monroe Township Senior Center and the Encore Community in New Jersey.
